How to Volunteer
Volunteer Opportunities with Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana
We are always in need of more volunteers, especially troop leaders, to serve the girls! We have many different volunteer opportunities available to match your skills, interests, and schedules. Anyone over the age of 18 can apply to be a Girl Scout volunteer. Women, men, college students, single parents, grandparents, guardians, working moms or dads, career professionals, retirees--we need your help! There are flexible options for volunteering. The level of involvement is up to you! Many opportunities are listed below. The first step is completing a Volunteer Application (if you have trouble downloading this form, please try the Microsoft Word version or call your local service center to have one sent to you). You may also complete the short information form online to get more information about volunteering with Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana before completing your volunteer application.
- Troop leaders: As a troop leader, you determine the time, location, and frequency of meetings, so it fits in your schedule. Every troop needs at least two adults serving on the leadership team. You can volunteer with a friend, or we can match you up with another volunteer. We provide training for leaders; plus, once a month you meet with the leaders in your area to get ideas, information, and support. Every year, there are girls on a waiting list because there are not enough troop leaders.
- Key Volunteer roles: We have volunteer positions related to the cookie program, communication and public relations, fundraising, training, event planning, training, and more!
- Customized membership: These are short-term, in-school and after-school programs that last 4-8 sessions.
- One-Day events: We have many Girl Scout events for which we need help during a one-day event. It may be a large scale event where we need volunteers to work at an all-day or half-day event.
- Committees: We have many committees that do the behind-the-scenes work in Girl Scouting, including fund development, marketing, membership, diversity, technology, and more.
In all of our volunteer roles, you will get the training and support you need to be successful. Plus, we require all volunteers to complete a successful background check to ensure the safety of our members. If you are looking to make a difference in the lives of girls, please consider volunteering with us.
Questions: If you complete your volunteer application and don't hear back from someone soon after, please call your local service center.
