Girl Scouts in this age group will always remember the cool stuff they learned and the great friends they made, as well as discover what's so important about being a leader, working on a team, and dreaming about their future possibilities.

  • Cadettes in grades 6-8 work to understand themselves and their values and use their knowledge and skills to explore the world. Together, they work on caring about, inspiring, and teaming with others locally and globally, and acting to make the world a better place.
Girl Scout Cadettes earn Interest Project Awards, participation patches and do good work in the world around them using the It's Your World -- Change It! and the new It's Your Planet -- Love It! Girl Scout Leadership Journeys.

What It Means to be a Girl Scout

Being a Girl Scout is about having fun and making friends — but it's more than that. Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

Learn more about what it means to be a Girl Scout.

Journeys provide an important foundation for each level in Girl Scouting for girls and volunteers. Just by following a journey, members will be engaging in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (and practicing some Girl Scout traditions!). When the Journey ends, girls and their volunteers can apply what they have learned to everything else they do in Girl Scouting.

It's Your World -- Change It!

Navigate, overcome obstacles and explore the sometimes rocky road of relationships one twist and turn at a time. Earn three awards and emerge from the maze as a peacemaker.

aMAZE! The Twists and Turns of Getting Along

Each passageway of this journey presents Girl Scout Cadettes with opportunities to navigate personal relationships in the best and most productive ways.

As girls twist and turn through aMAZE, they gain tips and strategies for creating healthy, long-lasting friendships:

  • "I-statements" for building friendships and solving conflicts
  • tips for dealing with bullies
  • pointers for talking with trusted adults

Cadettes can earn three awards: the Interact, Diplomat and Peacemaker awards. They can also earn the LiA by working with Brownies.

Learn About LiA

Here's your chance to show your leadership skills as you assist your Brownie sisters along their special quest!

It's Your Planet -- Love It!

While Loving the Planet, Get Outside! Girls and their volunteers get lots of ideas for hiking, camping, testing the air, and watching the stars.

Breathe

Cadettes engage all five senses as they clear the air — while measuring air quality and acting to improve it, girls also find their flair, think about “Hair,” and perhaps try and éclair. From cigarette smoking to deforestation, they get an aerial view of many issues! As girls become more Aware, they Alert others and then Affirm their impact as they earn these three uplifting awards. Their keepsake bracelet has triple strands of wavy, cotton cord laces with diamond shaped mother-of-pearl center charm and the words: "Affirm", "Alert", "Aware".
