Who We Are and What We Believe In Girl Scouts of the USA was founded in 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low. Girl Scouts is a non-profit organization chartered by the United States Congress. Based on sound ethical values, Girl Scouting is a movement that provides opportunities for girls to learn and work in partnership with adult volunteers. The Promise and the Law are the guiding principles upon which Girl Scouting is founded, and are stated in the opening passages of the organization's constitution. "Daisy" was the nickname of Juliette Low, the original Girl Scout. She started this whole Girl Scout thing in Savannah, GA almost 100 years ago!
