Basic Leadership Home Study Course
Objectives…
By the end of this Home Study, participants will be able to:
- Recall the basics of the Girl Scout program
- Describe the role of the Girl Scout Leader
- Secure parent and community support for troop program/activities
- Utilize girl planning and decision-making in troop program
- Recognize GSUSA and Council structure, policies and procedures, and finances
- Know how to use Safety-Wise
- Manage the group process
- Define pluralism and diversity
- Identify and use GSUSA/Council Resources and Services

Leaders must complete the following Adult Education trainings prior to completing this Home Study:
Materials needed before you begin…
For leaders not having these materials, a Kit containing these items can be checked out from the Adult Education Specialist in each Service Center or individual pieces may be available through the Service Center Library. Please return the kit materials in good condition to avoid a $25 replacement charge.

Participants who have successfully completed the Home Study will receive notification by mail and will be awarded three contact hours. Any applicant who fails to successfully complete 85% of the Home Study will not receive contact hours and will be required to attend the Girl Scout Leadership training.
